CANADEM has been managing a Sudan Technical Assistance Program since 2000. In the past 10 years, hundreds of CANADEM experts have worked in Sudan, the majority directly with the UN, other inter-governmental organizations, or UN implementing partners. CANADEM has also been active in building capacity on the policing side, having deployed 12 experts to provide support to the African Union Mission in Sudan (2006-2007). Through its International Election Observation Program, CANADEM is also deploying election observers and experts to the European Union and Carter Center election observation missions (EOMs). Below, an overview of CANADEM’s Sudan Technical Assistance Program.
