CANADEM's Rapid Onset Humanitarian Emergency Experts Fund: RAP-Training

CANADEM believes in the importance of building the capacity of our RAP Experts to better respond to the needs of UN agencies and their partners in humanitarian crisis situations. Through endorsing international training sessions designed to strengthen the skills and expertise of participants, CANADEM informs our experts of relevant training opportunities as they become available. To date, CANADEM RAP Experts have participated in over 100 international training sessions.
Courses and workshops cover a range of topics, notably Humanitarian Assistance, Logistics Response Training, ProCap Training, Child Protection, Gender-Based Violence Training, Communication in Emergency Training, WASH in Emergency, and Cluster Coordination Training.
Training course fees, accommodation, and board are usually funded in conjunction with the UN and the organization sponsoring the event – participates are only required to cover transportation costs to/from the host country, plus other related expenses (such as local transportation).
Recent training sessions CANADEM RAP Experts have participated in include:
- UNHCR: Workshop on Emergency Management in Starum, Norway
- UNICEF: WASH in Emergency in Amman, Jordan
- UNICEF: Gender-Based Violence Training in New York, USA
- Danish Refugee Council: Cluster Coordination Training in Copenhagen, Denmark
- Norwegian Refugee Council: French ProCap Training in Geneva, Switzerland.
