As the nexus of over 15,000 Canadian & international experts, and networked with hundreds of non governmental agencies including the private sector, CANADEM has the unique ability to work with government departments to conceptualize and convene Fast-Consultations on a wide range of issues.

Fast-Consultations bring together members of the Government of Canada with thematic, sectoral or country-specific experts and agencies to facilitate open dialogue and communication between key individuals from different organizational backgrounds, in order to generate high-level discussion and information-sharing.

Fast-Consultations - rapid access to high-quality, policy-relevant knowledge and experience from key individuals in government, civil society and the private sector, held with the purpose of: icon_warp5Generating unique perspectives on emerging issues;
icon_warp5
Encouraging transformative thinking on existing issues;
icon_warp5
Enhancing inter-agency cooperation through discussion and networking;
icon_warp5
Providing context and background to addressing complex international issues, as Canadian policy responses are developed.

CANADEM will work with the client to design their consultation from start to finish. We will free the client from onerous logistical tasks and will provide a professional moderator. icon_warp5Pre-consultation tasks: such as sending out invitations, identifying and distributing the agenda and related documents, and addressing any optional requirements such as transportation and accommodation.

Consultation tasks: provide a congenial atmosphere (location, refreshments, etc.) and moderate the session.

Post-consultation tasks: consolidate and distribute a final report, or other follow-up actions as required.

Fast-Consultations can respond to a variety of client needs, including: icon_warp5Fast-breaking developments in a country or issue-area of critical interest to Canada;
icon_warp5
Urgent need for evaluation and debriefing of a changing situation of significance to the GoC;

Initiation of new policy work or the review of current policy in a potentially major sector of government activity.

It does not have an advocacy mandate and maintains broad impartiality to facilitate its mandate to support and strengthen the activities of national and international organizations, including the GoC;
icon_warp5
Based on direction from DFAIT or another GoC client, CANADEM has greater freedom to ‘select’ the experts and agencies that will participate.

5. CANADEM can host Consultations in its own
dedicated conference space (pictured right) and provide lunch and refreshments.
