The CANPOL Program draws on a roster of over 800 highly skilled Canadian Police Security System Experts. CANADEM works with international organizations, including the United Nations, European Union Police Missions (EUPOL), and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), CIVPOL, and the Government of Canada, to strengthen peace, security, and good governance efforts worldwide. Since 2003, we have deployed over 70 Police Experts to Afghanistan, Haiti, the West Bank, the Caribbean, and Sudan - amongst others - to join international policing missions.

- Who can be deployed on a CANPOL mission?
-
To be considered for participation in a CANPOL mission, you must register with CANADEM. This is a free service for those registering. CANPOL acts as a matchmaker for the UN and other international agencies, identifying exceptional Canadian candidates for specific postings. Once you are registered, CANPOL uses your skills profile and resume to determine whether you are the ideal match for a position.
In addition to proven police and/or security sector reform expertise, CANPOL registrants must have well-honed interpersonal skills – flexibility, teamwork, cultural and gender sensitivity – as well as the ability to think on one’s feet. To shine, registrants must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the experience to gauge and address unexpected challenges. International experience is highly desirable.
All police experts on the CANADEM roster are considered for each and every position. Only those who meet the selection requirements for a position will be contacted about their availability. Please update your file with CANADEM regularly. Although everyone registered with CANPOL has valuable skills and work experience, contracts are not guaranteed. Competition for positions can be fierce.
